Little Soldiers is a captivating and spellbinding story of two brothers (Guillaume pige, Malik Ibheis) fighting over a beautiful trapeze artist (Selma Roth). Emotions run deep as their desire, passion, obsession and rage are brought to life through a captivating blend of mime, music and physical theatre in places exquisite.
Throughout the performance there are atmospheric twists, dreamlike journeying through the imagination helped along moodily by the light design (Katherine Graham). I was often mesmerised, if not a little confused by the fast paced physical expression, supported by an amazingly creative live musical back drop (Alix Judd) blending violin, accordion and keyboard in a whirling cocktail of chaos and calm. This musical soundscape enhanced the emotions in my mind & makes the piece a brilliantly put together show. A highly physical, yet graceful and captivating performance. A must see this festival.
